Easy Breezy Summer

The big old front porch is one of the things I love about this fixer-upper house. It's so versatile! Al fresco dining . . . doggie grooming station . . .

potting area . . . quiet place to curl up with a good book . . . or watch a thunderstorm . . . LOVING it!

It's a season of shifting gears. After homeschooling for 10 years, next year I'll be down to just one highschooler at home. The oldest two will be in college, and the youngest is going to a private Christian school. Yay!

Professionally it's been a time of big changes, too. I loved being Editor at Econobusters, and the monthly Digests we produce are fantastic, but it sure made for a very busy life. Since stepping down I've enjoyed having time to read, tackle projects at home, and get some organizing, cleaning, and decorating done. Writing one monthly column and one quarterly column has been a joy. Come September I'll be easing back into writing and editing, picking up some freelance work. But for now, it's summertime, and the living is easy!

Tonight's dinner? Little but luxurious sliders . . . fresh off the grill and loaded with bacon, New York Extra Sharp Cheddar, butter-fried mushrooms, crispy onions, and heirloom tomato slices. Fantastic!
