Want to do vs. Have to do

It's a perfectly beautiful fall day, and what I FEEL like doing is packing a picnic and going for a lovely country drive with any of the family who wanted to come along . . . What I WILL be doing is packing ever more boxes, taking a couple more loads to the storage unit we have rented (just a stone's throw from our new house), making 2 lasagnas for dinner tomorrow, and cleaning our church building (each family takes their turn.) Of course, "I" means "we" since everyone in the family is pitching in to "git er done." Less than 2 weeks from today we'll be in our new old home!
Can I just say that moving is a LOT of work? I've also had a boat load of medical tests done in the past few weeks, and everything has come back normal. GREAT to know! The reality of living with chronic illness is that some days are diamonds and some are duds. Yesterday was a dud, so I made time to rest. So grateful to have that flexibility!
And I'm really looking forward to a truly once-in-a-lifetime trip when the moving project is over. My parents and younger brother and I are going to Trinidad, West Indies for 10 days, leaving on November 1st. My parents lived in Trinidad for almost 40 years as missionaries. My brother and I were both born there. I haven't been back to visit for 19 years! My parents (who live in Ireland now) haven't been able to visit for a few years either, so this is big stuff! Of course, the flight was booked and plans made before I knew we'd be in the throes of moving . . . and I'm glad they were!
Now, back to my boxes . . . !

Oh, how fun! I don't envy you the work of moving, but at least you have something wonderful to look forward to!

Oh, your upcoming trip sounds fabulous. I'm glad that you had it booked before you found out about your move too. God knew you'd need that commitment to make it happen. :O)
