His Eye Is On the Sparrow . . .

I love these little thrifted birds on my kitchen window sill, and since my dishwasher has been on the fritz, I've spent a fair bit of time standing at the sink, up to the elbows in soapy water, admiring my birdie friends. They remind me that "His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me!"

Here are the lyrics , written in 1905 by Civilla D. Martin, based on the words of Matthew 10: 29-31. (It's worth clicking over for a read!)

(The itty bitty strawberries are from our backyard patch. We get about a whopping handful a day.)

I think I might make a tag or ribbon with the words "His eye is on the sparrow" and put it by my birdies. If I come up with a genius idea I'll post it here.

"Let not your heart be troubled," His tender word I hear,
And resting on His goodness, I lose my doubts and fears.
Though by the path He leadeth, but one step I may see
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know he watches me.

(And you, too!)

Love it! I can picture it on a tea-stained scrapbook tag, with a pretty piece of grosgrain ribbon to tie it to the taller piece, so you can see it whenever you look at your sparrows. :-)
