Hurry...there's still time...
...but not much. My friend Melonie is hosting a cool contest on her blog, but it ends Friday 28th at noon. You can win a free subscription to KIWI magazine. It's NOT about New Zealand, or fuzzy green fruit. It's an inspiring magazine for healthy families. Check it out for yourself HERE.

A Sucker for Silly Quizzes...
Yup, that's me...and I came across this "personality test" on my friend Julie's blog. Interesting about Julie...I met her online at www.homeschoolblogger.com . I should say I've met a lot of great people there. Anyway, Julie lives in Colorado, but when she came east on vacation we were able to meet up and spend a wonderful afternoon together. We have daughters close in age, and they also had a lovely visit, and have remained friends.
But, back to the personality test. What kind of shoes are you? Turns out I'm a cowboy boot. My husband will be happy. He's been needing a new pair!
Leave a comment to let me know what kind of shoe YOU are. Here's the link: http://www.blogthings.com/whatkindofshoeareyouquiz/

Win Something Special!
Ok, I've been looking at Spanish curricula, and just yesterday was asking a couple of homeschool families about the Rosetta Stone program. It comes very highly recommended. Today I came across this contest on Jen Ig's blog. So Spanish isn't your thing? No problem - how about Latin, or Japanese, or Hebrew? This is a great contest folks!
Rosetta Stone has been the #1 foreign language curriculum among homeschoolers for a while -- next week they are unleashing a brand new curriculum, and you can WIN the *all new* Rosetta Stone Homeschool Version 3… FOR FREE!
This is a $219 program (and believe me it's worth every penny!) and the winner gets to pick from any of these 14 languages: Spanish (Spain or Latin America), English (American or British), Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Irish, Hebrew, or Russian.
This will also include a headset with microphone, and students will participate in lifelike conversations and actually produce language to advance through the program. Rosetta Stone still incorporates listening, reading and writing as well, in addition to speaking. Many homeschoolers requested grammar and vocabulary exercises, and with Rosetta Stone Homeschool Version 3, they're included! For parents, the new Parent Administrative Tools are integrated into the program and allow parents to easily enroll students in any of 12 predetermined lesson plans, monitor student progress, and view and print reports.
To win this most excellent program -- in the language of your choice -- copy these (blue) paragraphs and post it in (or as) your next blog post -- then to enter the contest, go to the original contest page HERE: http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/JenIG/501132/ and leave a comment with the link showing where you blogged about it. And please make sure the link works to get back to the original contest page when you post it. And good luck! The winner will be picked randomly on March 26, and will be notified thru the link they left to their blog pg. And if you have more than one blog, you can post them and enter those separately for more chances to win. Yay for free stuff!

Beginning Again
God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. Revelation 21:4
Thank you to all who have supported us with prayer and kindness over the past several months. Aunt Grace is now perfectly healed, at home with the Lord.
Each day that we were able to spend with her in Canada over the past months was a gift and a treasure. Now it is time to get back on track on the homefront! People with more experience in this type of thing tell me there is comfort and healing in returning the usual busy routines.

Lefty Leaders
I'm just back from spending a bit over a week in Canada. Some of you know that a very dear family member is suffering from cancer there.
I rarely read a newspaper any more, preferring the web for weather, news, or whatever else I think I need to know. However, I had lots of time this past week to read through newspapers while sitting in the hospital. An article in the March 2nd Toronto Star piqued my interest. Did you know that 4 of the last 6 U.S. presidents were left handed? Obama and McCain are also left-handed. According to this article, about 66% of US presidents have been left handed, compared with about 10% of the world's population. Weird, huh?
Other famous lefties include Albert Einstein, Isaac Newton, Leonardo da Vinci, and Michelangelo. Cool lefties include my Dad, brother, brother in law, and several friends. Interesting. Potentially useless trivia fascinates me...but really, don't you think this must be more than just coincidence?
